I think this is an eclipse plumaged male, judging by the colour of the bill. I don't usually manage to sort them out from females!!

A real Quacker, well done Delia...Re:- Great Tit I posted today was a juvenile, several around the feeders at Lakenheath RSPB.
 
He's a beauty Delia! great detail and colours...nice reflection too, well done tfs.
 
Bill colour is the key, Delia.

Drake is greenish-yellow (like here)
Duck is orange around the edge with a dark brown central patch.

Just remember a female gadwall also has a similar bill pattern to duck mallard.

And with all the hybrids around, it makes it even harder to sort them.
