Male sparrowhawk
To-days find. While waiting for a treecreeper to get around to my side of the tree I noticed this hawk rising out of some rushes at the waters edge then diving back in again. A small bird (unknown lbb) came out of same rushes then flew back in again. This happened repeatedly until someone came along the path and the hawk flew off. Lbb's life saved, Hawk still hungry, potential good shot opportunity missed. Such is life !!

Wow, this is a stunning image. Full of tension, the bird seeming about to take wing, and gazing intently with that staring yellow eye. The lighting is handled perfectly, and it's a fine composition with the bird framed by the two branches. Top quality work.
