juvenile black-crowned night heron (nycticorax nycticorax)

I got into the hide at Mai Po at 5.30am ( I stayed overnight at their facilities) and there were several night herons around in the dim early light. I took several photos but this was the only one where the bird stood still for long enough for the longish exposure of 1/6th of a second.

Nice work! They are elusive as you describe here, too. All my black-crowned images are from a blind due to their nervous demeanor. I usually place my blind on an island in the middle of a river that is only accessable by wading through the water.
