'In the wild!' (Biziura lobata)

The Musk Duck (male) has a lobe underneath its chin and uses it to attract the females, it also claps its tail on the water to make a huge splash, at the same time emmitting a very sharp whistle......I did a series of photos and video for the Serendip Sanctuary when they had a Musk Duck born there and was lucky enough to watch the baby grow from 2 days to now (which is 18mths later)....fascinating ducks!
I was so excited about finding one in the wild that I followed it for half an hour in the freezing cold hoping that it might come closer to the shore.....this was the best that I gould do...do hope you all like it!

This is brilliant Nora. I have heard about these ducks before and have seen very few pictures of them. Great closeup showing that marvelous chin lobe. Brilliant feather detail showing marvelous intricate feather patterns with great eye contact and a wonderful water-level picture. Excellent work!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!!
