Hadada Ibis
The barely visible red culmen indicates an adult. They are common and increasingly widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially in settled areas where it has adapted to irrigated fields and suburban gardens. It is pronounced "Ha DEE Dah" by the locals. Sometimes spelled "Hadeda," the name is onomatopoeia for the bird's loud, raucous cries. This is the nominate subspecies, with the more northerly races being darker and longer billed.

These used to wake me up every morning in Swaziland! They evoke very strong memories of my time living there. I love to hear them.
