greater flamingo family (phoenicopterus roseus)

seems like one of the parents has had a problem with one of its legs in the past (fracture?)

This photo was taken in the Camargue, in southern France, where a most unbelievable thing happened in June this year. A professional film crew used an ultralight plane to fly over the flamingo colony (the only one in France!). This created a general panic among the breeding flamingos, and around 500 nests were destroyed or definitely abandoned, about 10 % of the entire colony! Simply disgusting. I hope the court case will find no excuses to these people. This type of behaviour is so far away from the ethics that we non-professional photographers respect.
Habitat
estuary, salt pans

Camargue, France

phoenicopterus roseus

Amazing choreography. The only one here was found dead in the middle of a reservoir two weeks ago.
As far as I know is the Camargue an amazing/even top spot for flamingos in Europe.

OMG 😲 Excellent group capture of those beautiful Flamingos JJ, well done spotting the injury to the Flamingos leg mate! Tfs.

A beauty of a detailed group shot and setting JJ, lovely job and many tfs.

What a stunning shot, JJ, but how shocking about the film crew.

terrific shot of this group JJ but shocked to hear of the disruptive fly-over by the camera crew and hope they nail those who authorized it (Salin de Giraud ??). Vive la Camargue, black bulls and pink flamingos.

Beautiful JJ...There'll be one rule for us and one for them mate.

Absolutely stunning JJ. Love the two parents being affectionate and the two youngsters leaving out of embarrassment (lol). Brilliant work!
