Great blue heron (juvenile) (Ardea herodias)

We were driving to an appointment when I noticed this juvenile Great Blue heron on a branch overlooking the swamp on the side of the road. We got out of the appointment an hour later, and it took me another 30 minutes to get home to get the camera. I figured there was no way he'd still be there but there he was - he waited an hour and a half for me!

Habitat
Lives in fresh and saltwater marshes, mangrove swamps, flooded meadows, lake edges, or shorelines. Very adaptable as long as there is ampe supply of fish.

Thanks! Yes, I couldn't believe he was still there - it's like he actually heard me yelling out the car window, "you'd better still be there when I come back!"🤣
