Explorer duckling

Explorer duckling (Anas platyrhynchos)

There were also three clutches of ducklings plus mums and other adults at the duckpond. Even among the youngest ducklings, you could already see different personalities. This little mallard was the most daring of his siblings (they were 5 in all) - the last to join the flock when mum called for them to move on, and the one who went exploring first and furthest when they settled in a new spot in the pond. This was my favorite shot of him, with the lilies forming a sort of arrow pointing the same direction he (or she) was looking.
