That's a super picture you've taken of these grosbeaks Richard. You captured the action very nicely too.

They're lovely looking birds, aren't they.

Richard! This is one awesome image of these two and you captured them brilliantly guy.

You're all very kind with your compliments, however I must confess and offer my reasons for posting a composite image, in what may appear to be an intentional misrepresentation.

The flying bird was added to the image of the perching one. If one scrutinizes the flying bird, it can be seen that the flight path was very close to the bird perching. Two males, one making a mock attack perhaps, causing the crouching action in defense. The flying bird is coming from the out of frame foreground. There could be no reasonable anticipation of the flying bird suddenly appearing in frame let alone being able to capture it in reasonable focus as it came from a point the photographer couldn't see and so couldn't anticipate.

For me, my photography is about storytelling as much as it is with my painting and writing. I hope this exercise does not offend anyone, I liken it to street photography when you can't ask for permission because the subject becomes conscious of the camera and it destroys the candid shot. This was a test of my work and hope I will be forgiven for using a questionable method. As a matter of ethics, I will always make it clear when I post a compilation photo. In this case, I hope the late coming explanation will be cool with everyone. :))
