Desert Grassland Whiptail (Aspidoscelis uniparens)

This lizard closely resembles the Sonoran Spotted Whiptail, but this species lacks pale spots between the stripes. Like other species of whiptails, they are all females reproducing asexually by parthenogenesis. Their eggs undergo a chromosome doubling after meiosis, developing into lizards without being fertilized. No males needed. Formerly placed in the genus "Cnemidophorus."
Location
Paton Center for Hummingbirds, Patagonia, Arizona, USA
