Crowned Woodnymph (Thalurania colombica subsp. fannyi) Male, species sexually dimorphic. This is the Emerald-bellied Woodnymph (Thalurania hypochlora) sometimes treated at the subspecies rank under Thalurania fannyi subsp. hypochlora. Since Opus does not mention the taxon hypochlora but does state that T. fannyi is a subpecies of T. colombica. One has to assume that T. hypochlora has been synonymized under T. C. fannyi. Not seen on feeders but foraging on Brilliant-flowered Sanchezia (Sanchezia nobilis: Solanaceae). Umbrellabird Lodge in Buenaventura Reserve, west of Pias, El Oro Province, Ecuador. Tropical cloud forest at ca. 800 m (2,625 ft) elevation.
