Crocodile Bird (Pluvianus aegyptius)

This is the fabled Crocodile Bird, aka Egyptian Plover. According to legend it supposedly picks morsels from the teeth of crocodiles, but this has not been recently documented. They do have one of the most dapper plumages in the birding world and Gambia is a good place to see them so I guess it's about time I added one to my gallery.

Beautiful Plover! I hope you get the opportunity to capture one of these beautiful Plovers interacting with a Crocodile.

Nice capture and a must for your gallery Kev!

The bird needs a new common name. Nobody ever sees it in Egypt or in Croc mouths.
Road plover works for me!
