Crab-like Spiny Orbweaver
Crab-like Spiny Orbweaver (Gasteracantha cancriformis: Aranaeidae) female. Females range in size from 5.0-9.0 cm long x 10.0-13.0 cm wide (0.20-0.35 in x 0.39-0.52 in) wide. Variously colored from white, yellow, orange, or red. White ones have either black or red spines while the others only have black spines.
Habitat
Post Oak Savannah vegetation area. Upland dominated by post oak and yaupon at 73 m (185 ft) elevation.

Lick Creek Park, College Station, Brazos County, Texas, USA.
