Costa's hummingbird (Calypte costae)

Yesterday I was told there were Rufous hummers in a horsechestnut tree I was watching, but I didn't manage to capture any. So my hummer list so far consists of three species - Anna's (the most common ones hereabouts), Allen's (seen during the Flyway Festival), and this Costa's (seen at a feeder at Bouverie Preserve). With the chestnuts springing into bloom, maybe I'll see some others on campus this week, before taking off to Norway and Britain for a couple of weeks.
Habitat
garden
Location
Bouverie Preserve, Sonoma CA
Date taken
9 April 2011
Scientific name
Calypte costae
Equipment used
D90 70-300
o:) Three species of Hummers is not bad, there aren't many more in CA, I think!!! You've done greatly, girl, and this Costa's is gorgeous, love the glitter in its gorget, nicely caught!!! :bounce: :t: :t: :t: :t:
