Common Thread-waisted Wasp
Common Thread-waisted Wasp (Ammophila procera: Sphecidae) Males are ca. 2.2 cm (0.9 in) long while females are ca. 2.9 cm (1.1 in) but can reach 3.5 cm (1.4 in) long. The flower is tievine (Ipomoea cordatotriloba: Convolvulaceae).
Habitat
Blackland Prairie vegetation area, riverine, bottomland at 156 m (512 ft) elevation.
Location
Miller Springs Park, Lake Belton, behind dam along the Leon River, northwest of Belton, Bell County, Texas, USA.
