This is what the French refer to as 'Buse Variable'. I believe this is a youngster, I've searched the internet, but not being an expert, I'm still not sure. I copped this one returning from Aixe-sur-Vienne. I had to stop further down the road, get me camera from the boot and we drove back up again. It was still there and I managed to get this from the car on the move. Not as sharp as I'd like, but I do love these birds and it was hard not to post it.
n.b. Bernard (bru.b) tells me that youngsters have pale eyes. Now I'll take that as gospel. Merci Bernard.
