Woodland Kingfisher 2
Also known as the Senegal Kingfisher, this alcedinid is actually quite widely distributed throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa. Nonetheless its harsh rattle call and flash of irridescent blue in flight never cease to get a birder's attention! This species is subject to some migratory movement within the region and is most common along the coast of Liberia during the dry season.

Unlike its aquatic cousins that plunge into water for fish, this terrestrial kingfisher prefers to watch for insects and small vertebrates from a branch or other vantage point (such as this roof corner).

very nice Gord, I hope you are both well ! I never get time to look through the whole gallery so I end up missing some great shots. This is one of them, very nice indeed.
Take care
