A Cooper's Hawk. We have them nest near our yard and thought this may be one from years' past, maybe so. It landed on my neighbor's fence past the seed-bearing flowers and chain link fence, in addition to being just above a suet cage. I could not tell, at all, if the head was located in the gap of the fence wire. I shot and hoped for the best.

Suburban back yard with a variety of vegetation.
