Eurasian magpie

One of a few magpies i saw a few recently by a river

They're really quite handsome and still a pretty scarce species in my part of Scotland (though being seen more often in the last few years).

I think they are rather good-looking birds. Fairly uncommon in the prefecture where I live (Fukuoka), but they are the Prefectural Bird of one of the neighboring prefectures, Saga, where they are most common. There is even an express train named after them called Kasasagi, which is the Japanese name for the Eurasian Magpie.
