Blending in
The leaves here remind me of autumn, although it was now late spring! An Australasian Grebe was in a swamp not far from where the Willie-wagtail was.

They are rather similar to our Dabchick and have the same frustrating habit of disappearing under water just as you're trying to take their photo LOL

you got him before he disappeared lol, excellent photo of this lovely little grebe, Delia, top notch, many tfs!!

Even up close one could look away and have trouble finding this grebe again when you looked back. It certainly blends in well with its environment. Well done D! TFS!
 
If I saw this bird I would think it was a Dabchick (Little Grebe), Delia. Well spotted and captured (before it disappeared).
