American Goldfinch - female

American Goldfinch - female (Carduelis tristis)

I've had a great time photographing the Goldfinches in the forsythia and have a couple more photos to share here. I'm always amazed at the variability in their plumage this time of the year. I've got males pristine in their spring plumage and some that are only halfway there. Some of the females are olive and some are grey...

Oh, she is lovely in her pastel-coloured finery! And what a bright eye she is showing here! A charming composition, Deanne, you never disappoint me! ;) :t:

Well done Deanne, the yellow flowers really show these birds off well.

Irrespective of the current plumage colours, Deanne - they are all equally beautiful! The yellow flowers and dark green backgrounds makes for marvellous settings - thanks! :t::t:

A beautiful shot Deanne - I agree, the yellow flowers finish the image off perfectly. The bright yellow also brings out the yellow traces in the bird. Great work!
