Rufous Hummingbird male

Rufous Hummingbird male (Selasphorus rufus)

This male and a female arrived two weeks early this year.
A fact I'd forgotten-Hummingbirds have 1,000 to 1,500 feathers, the fewest number of feathers of any bird species in the world. Not only do they not need as many feathers because of their tiny size, but fewer feathers also keeps them more lightweight for easier flight.
Location
Manzanita, Oregon
Date taken
02-18-20
Scientific name
Selasphorus rufus
Equipment used
Canon 7D II, 100-400 II
Super wow on the stop action and the closeup you got of this little one. Beautiful picture Vicki

Hello Vicki. Long time no see. I see you are still taking super photos, have you moved to Oregon. I have been out of touch for a long time but slowly coming back. Time is a great healer and i have needed that time. Hope you are well, Keep in touch.
