Scintillant Hummingbird Male C-RICA SER 2
The orientation of this bird relative to the sun's position was almost perfect for emphasizing the feature that gives the species its name. It was hard to believe what I was seeing -- it nearly knocked my eyes out. This species is the smallest hummingbird in its range (the mountains of Costa Rica and western Panama) - only ~7 cm long. It was feeding on flowers (no feeders) at the lodge.
