Congratulations on this unusual visitor! We've had them regularly over the years. They nest in the local churchyard. We found a dead one during the summer presumably a victim of the neightbours' cat so I hope they come back.

They're very scarce up here too S&S, though there's usually some in the grounds of Scone Palace (not far from here) that can be seen in the winter months.

You've really lucky to have one in your garden.
