Java Sparrow (Padda oryzivora)

This bird looks like a miniature Puffin! These birds were seen in Waikiki, Oahu, during a recent holiday to the Hawaiian Islands.

The Java Sparrow is quite small, around 12cm long. It tends to occur in flocks and the birds hop around with a very delicate bouncing movement, giving the impression of a gently undulating carpet of birds!
