Colonising
On my way home from Loch of the Lowes I often take a back road, stopping to overlook a field that now seems to have a permanent pool in it.

Over the years it has attracted a number of species and that day there were Canada Geese, Oystercatchers, Mallard and Lapwing.

I really love these 'lucky dip' kind of spots, got one or two myself, always a joy to see what they throw up! A delightful image of this special place Delia, many tfs!

PS. I agree completely about the name Masked Shrike! The Bulgarian name of 'White-foreheaded Shrike' is perhaps more specific!
 
Is the pool an intentional wetland restoration? Will there be a hide set up there eventually?
