Broad-billed Motmot
Broad-billed Motmot (Electron platyrhynchum minor). Six subspecies are recognized with only subspecies minor being mapped for Panama. Sexes are similar but with this couple sitting together one can make out that the male on the right is a bit larger than the female on the left. Photographed at La Mesa along Las Minas Road north of El Valle de Antn, Cocl Province, Panama. Roadside, secondary humid forest at ca. 823 m (2,700 ft) elevation.
