Blesbok (Damaliscus pygargus)

Identified by the white blaze on its forehead and on the front of its face. Apparently they were hunted to the verge of extinction until a rancher collected the last 17 animals remaining and put them in a protective enclosure. They breed well in captivity and there are now an estimated 54,000 living in various parks and game preserves all descended from the original 17. IUCN now classifies this species as "least concern." Another subspecies survives in wooded areas of the Western Cape region and goes by the name "Bontebok."

I don't know if it is, but their name sounds very South African, doesn't it? I love those horns (but would like to be on the wrong end of them LOL)

A terrific picture you've taken of these guys Joe, well done lad.
