I am Vu Pham, I love to make wildlife film. Let me share my bird photography and wildlife photography story of hunting the rarest bird in Vietnam's wild. Above 2000 meters in Vietnam's western highland central region, Ngoc Linh Mountain is well-protected for its rich biodiversity. It's next to a military camp and a bustling ginseng farm that helps people accumulate wealth. This is the home of the Golden-winged Laughingthrush, an endemic species in Vietnam. It lives in just that tiny patch on Ngoc Linh Mountain, spanning across Kon Tum and Quang Nam provinces. In one adventure, a Black Eagle chased my drone—check the end of the video to see that.
Golden-winged Laughingthrush, IUCN Red List category: Endangered. There are approximately 1,000-2,499 individuals estimated. Their population trend is decreasing, with an ongoing decline in the number of mature individuals.
