I can't tell you what's going on (sorry) but what an amazing capture! I have also been trying to find an ornithologist who can tell me something about colour variations in birds, so far without success, but if I find one, I will refer them to your photo. This bird doesn't really look like an albino, but the colours are certainly different. Thanks for sharing it - maybe between us we can find somebody who can offer some expert comment on the colour variations we've been seeing.

Meanwhile, it may be worth looking up artificially bred colour variations - people who keep caged birds are very keen to breed variations of the natural colours - could this be an aviary escapee?

In my opinion the wild coloration is almost definitely more beautiful, but I have to admit that this bird is quite a little beauty!

I'm no expert in colour mutations, but this is definitely no albino.
Albino's do not have any pigment at all and therfore are snowy white with red eyes!

This particular bird might be a so called 'pineapple'

Thanks for sharing.

Regards
