A kestral (I think!)
I tried to sneak up on this bird that I think is a kestral, but he must have heard the camera shutter as he made a quick departure off behind the trees.
As a result I was unable to get an inflight shot.
It's the best I can do today folks - sorry!
Forgot my bino's again which did not help matters!

These are never easy to get close to, great capture, Mike, well done.

Not sure if this is a juvenile: Males have grey heads and a single black bar at the tip of the tail - Females are a bit darker, no grey head, and have barring along the length of the tail - Juveniles look like females.

This one looks like it's getting a grey head, and like the tail barring is fading, except for the tip, so it could be a young male. Bearing in mind that I'm no expert.|=)|
