Wollaton Area, Nottingham - Bird Feeding (1 Viewer)

Hi All,

I am new the Wollaton Area and never had a bird feeder before.
I have huge back garden and recently read an article about how birds find difficult to find food, which inspired me to put up a bird feeder in the garden.

Probably I am doing something wrong, I haven't seen a single bird feeding.
I am attaching an image of my setup here. I have put all year around seeds for feeding.

Please advise and guide.

Regards,
Raja

I think the birds will find it difficult to see the food, Raja. I would take those 'houses' away and hang metal or plastic feeders with various food i.e. peanut/sunflower hearts or seeds. Sprinkle seed (as for ground feeding birds) on the feeder tray. Once the birds have investigated I'm sure they'll be flocking to your food. Be patient - and good luck!

Hi Raja,

A warm welcome to BirdForum from all the Moderators and Admin. Glad to have you on board :t:

It does take a while as well. If I go on holiday and don't feed the birds it can be over a week before they start coming in numbers again.

Finally a success!!!

Finally a success.... I got two pigeons wondering around... :t::t::t:

Firstly, the poles look too low and too close to the shed, which might make the birds victims of any cats.

Also agree that you need to hang feeders - nuts, fat, nyger seed and wild bird seed. No bread.
