One day around Schiphol (1 Viewer)

Hi

My mate who is a plane photography nut wants to go to Schiphol for one day (well, it takes all sorts) and wants me to go with him. I have no problem with that but I will quickly get bored with big wings (planes) and wonder if there is any opportunities for bird or wildlife watching and/or photography near the airport. He is thinking about around 1st September

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Stuart R

Hi Stuart,

There are enough opportunities in the neighbourhood. Depending on your wishlist or which activity you want to do most (forest birding, water birds, photography, twitching, all-nature-experience et cetera), we can perhaps help you. Would you have a car, or in what distance from the airport are you thinking?

Anyway, the website waarneming.nl provides detailed information on recent sightings, and it can be used to explore areas in the neighbourhood. Although admitted, to get the right information, one must need to know the area or the website a bit better. Another opportunity would be a guided tour with Birding Holland (http://www.birdingholland.com/, I am not affiliated with them). They are specialised in your kind of trips and can offer you the trip that suits you best.

Good luck!
