Loxops wolstenholmei Rothschild, 1893 (1 Viewer)

In the archives of passenger lists from Hawaii, reference file MFL73-16, it can be seen on page 270 (out of 1141) that EB Wolstenholme indeed left Honolulu for Auckland on 25 August 1893 on the ship Monowar (that had as its final destination Sydney).
And here we can see that a Ship by the name Monowai was at anchor, in the Auckland Port in early October 1893, bound for a return trip to Honolulu and San Francisco.

Also note that the name of the Ship, as shown in the "reference file MFL73-16, ... on page 270 (out of 1141)" seems to have been the same (i.e. with an ending -i).

See the attached excerpt below:
Passenger List.png

That is even if the name of "our" Passenger seems to have been listed as:
E. B. Wolstonhorne, alt. ditto Wolstonhorse (!), or Wolstonhome ... !?
E. B. Wolstenh....jpg
Maybe it was just scribbled down, in haste, by an absentminded (or drunk) Ship steward/attendant.

However, I feel pretty sure it's him all right. ;)

Björn

PS. Also, for the Passenger List itself, see here (even if a year later, in 1894): "S. S. Monowai".
