From his death record 8 Mar 1910 Halle-Süd (Halle) I would write him Karl Wahnes (if I read correct 75 years old)
So I think 1834 as birth may possible as well. Maybe we can find a birth record possibly in Weimar?
Jahrbuch der naturwissenschaften born 1833 in Naumburg. Or Literarisches Zentralblatt für Deutschland but 77 years old.
So what's true about his birth is unknown to me.
