Arrived slightly too late myself too. You're right about my being a Notts fan. Not had much to celebrate this season so watching the young 'uns impress wasn't too bad! B (: Sam

Heard only. Presumably the torrential rain was a bit of a hindrance in seeing it! Hope it's still there tomorrow; well and truly my bogey bird! Sam

Have a look at this map: https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=1675950c0543bd79&resid=1675950C0543BD79!246&id=1675950C0543BD79%21246 Your best bet is to drive down Chainbridge Lane to the end, across the bridge and turn left, driving alongside the River Idle (the white track on the map). When you...

Heard a couple in Notts, Budby and Annesley, but on the whole it seems to be about the same numbers to me. Sam

    Nottinghamshire Birding

Nice one! :t: Yes there were three at one point. More recently this weeks sightings have included 3 LRP's, 3 Ringed Plovers and 2 Dunlin, otherwise very quiet. Sam

Glad you enjoyed yourself! Further to your sightings there was a male Garganey and Med Gull yesterday too. Really want a shot of a Garden Warbler, so am pretty jealous! :t: The Cettis' by Kingfisher Hide regularly shows well and I have seen it come out into the open on numerous occasions. Sam

    Nottinghamshire Birding

Millions of them in the afternoon! Black Tern as well, the 3 Ruff now in breeding plumage and a VERY showy Cetti's being seen regularly from Kingfisher hide being the best of a rather disappointing day. Sam

Yeah, I noticed! Hopefully pick them up from the Attenboro side of the river. Sam

See http://www.cliftongrovebirds.co.uk/latest_sightings.html for details of Notts' 3rd ever Whiskered Tern, at Long Eaton GP's yesterday (it spent a lot of its time in Notts' airspace). Sam

Unlucky! Went down to Attenborough as it was an Inset Day. Loads about! The Little Gull (1st winter) was seen by others while I had 2 Common Sands (Barton Flash and Clifton Pit), the 3 Ruff, at least 2 Arctic Terns on Coneries, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and Common Whitethroat. Howeverthe best...

Lucky you! Have been down there almost every day these last two weeks and the day I don't go Marsh Harrier and Little Gull were seen! Marshie would've been a patch tick too! Haven't seen a Common Sand' there for a while either. Other sightings from the last few weeks include a male Ring Ouzel (a...

Spotted Redshank stiil present this afternoon (7.30) at Kilvington on West Lake. Also 2 stunning Garganey nearby on the Grantham Canal at Bottesford but just over the border in Leicestershire, along with 2 elusive Great Grey Shrikes just down the road (Plungar) which evaded our grasp. Sam

    Nottinghamshire Birding

That was it! Relocated it in the bottom corner of the res. Came close enough for pics but unfortunately the sun was behind the bird. Quite scruffy wasn't it! Sam

    Nottinghamshire Birding

Moulting ad Black-necked Grebe still present at Kingmill Res and showing well though light too crap for pics. Some stunners taken while I was as school by others. Also others had the (fairly) regular Jack Snipe early morning on Sailing Club Marsh and a Wheatear in the paddock on the other side...

I bet I have seen you before then. I'm really unmistakable! Can usually be found with my camera by my side and bins, oh and I'm 14, and I've never seen another birder there that age. Sam
