    Sexual behavior of harbor porpoises

A day ago I was walking over the Golden Gate Bridge and filmed a few harbor porpoises below. Apparently I observed a newly discovered sexual behavior of the porpoises. https://www.marinemammalcenter.org/news/harbor-porpoise-mating-funnel-of-love

Red-tailed hawks perch next to each-other

Could you please tell me, if they sit almost touching each other like my hawks do or they sit close but on some distance. Also could you please tell me for many days they perch together? Do you have a picture? The last time I observed my hawks together was 5 days ago.

Red-tailed hawks perch next to each-other

Thanks for the info! They might be mates. However, even mates red-tailed do not perch together for such a long time outside mating season. Also interesting that this behavior occurs not every day. Sometimes I do not see them at all for a few weeks. What about your eagles? What months they perch...

Red-tailed hawks perch next to each-other

Two red-tailed haws have been perching next to each-other on the same branch for months. They do not do it every day, but on the days they do they come to the same brach and spend lots of time there. I mean they are flying off but come back all the time during those days. Sometimes they perch on...

    Beetle question

This beetle was photographed under a microscope. It is in Burmese amber, which means it is 100,000 years old. As you see, it front legs look kind of strange as well as it had. Do you believe it could be some parasitic algae that was living on it? Thanks!

    Gray whales sparking behavior

Some time ago I went cage-diving with great white sharks. At the beginning of the video I inserted a clip I filmed back then. A few days ago I observed a gray whale who kind-of-looked as a shark. See what I mean? This is called sharking behavior . You may learn more about this behavior here...

I wonder if I made a correct ID of this bird. I filmed it in San Francisco. An adult red-tailed was very unhappy about this intruder. Thanks!

What this sea lion is doing?

I sent the video to Marc Webber, Research Associate Cetacean Field Research Program, and here’s his response: “This juvenile has some sort of upset stomach. When this happens, they will readily throw-up or try to throw-up the stomach contents. This is achieved by the sequence of the...

I had the same impression, and today the nest was empty. One lady told me she was watching other nests for 2 hours, and the nest in question was empty all that time.

    Great blue Heron’s nest mystery

I also thought there is a dead chick. However, you saw in another video how big it was. Would it have fit in the nest that nothing at all would have been seen of it?

    Great blue Heron’s nest mystery

I went to check on the nest Today. Here is what I saw What was he doing, why he was shaking his head? He was also displaying (not shown in the video). I also talked to a lady who was watching the nest much more than I was. She told me, she has never seen such an aggressive chick, and she...

    Great blue Heron’s nest mystery

I guess, it is possible, but why would a parent risk an injury instead of simply stopping feeding the chick? I mean, it is not like a parent needs this nest to itself to produce more chicks in the same season.

    Great blue Heron’s nest mystery

On March 17 I filmed a great blue herons nest On April 12 I observed a scene shown mostly in slow motion in the first part of the video below. I was looking through my viewfinder and I thought that I was seeing a hungry, aggressive chick demanding food from its parent. However on the next...
