    As others have said.. Looks like a lure that's pierced the bottom of the jaw line.Most likely the treble hook is in the gullet.. and most likely the fish that was on the lure at the time is now or was a meal for the gull. Let Nature take it's course. Excellent shot and excellent color !

    Thank you for your comments.. I think it's a family group. The one in the foreground looks like a juvenile with the white tufted crown not fully developed.

    Thanks for the comments... They will when cornered either stomp their feet and show the teeth and snarl and make a big deal how ferocious they are. Which is act... or just go limp and play dead and defecate. Females with babies will be riding on her back in the spring. Eat mostly earth worms...

    Sony Nex 7 for Digiscoping
