Saltator maxillosus

Identification

Length 20cm. Gray/olive upper parts with buff below; grayish breast. Strongly contrasting white supercillium. Base of bill is yellow, a key field mark.

Similar Species

Green-winged Saltator. Does not have the yellow bill base.

Distribution

Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.

Taxonomy

Several races (or even species) might be present.

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and montanes.
