Tropical Checkered-Skipper (Burnsius oileus)
Identification provisional. I had a hard time deciding between this species and the very similar Orcus Checkered-Skipper (Burnsius orcus). Both are widespread in the Neotropics, but Tropical has a more northerly distribution. Both are apparently found on Saint Lucia. I based the ID on "white spot just beyond cell-end white bar present and enlarged" and marginal and submarginal bands made up of equal-sized spots (BugGuide). Corrections welcome. Formerly placed in the genus "Pyrgus".
Location
Des Cartier Trail, Blanchard, Micoud, Saint Lucia.
