Hi again,

To start with we thought the bird in these three images, taken on 29/9/14 near Bell's rapids, was a Gerygone, but the smudge on the face looks wrong. Can anyone help ?

Thanks again, Mike.

It looks like a small Cuckoo, probably either Horsfield's Bronze or Black-eared. The former is probably more likely but I can't tell for sure on these pictures.

It looks like it could be black-eared though I haven't seen one myself. No scaling or markings on an otherwise clean back, no malar stripe on face, clean underparts without barring or streaks.
