Tucklesholme - any one know what it is like? (1 Viewer)

Planning on a visit to Tucklesholme Staffordshire Wildlife Trust (and The Marina opposite for lunch) on Monday. Any one know anything about it?

It is quite a mixed bag, it is a pleasant walk around but often isn't that much of interest, it's worth going all the way around though as the Trent run's alongside and often has something to look at like Sand Martins which have burrows you can observe. If birding is the priority Branston Gravel pits opposite have footpaths running through them and attract a lot but they are working quarries and a scope is required as things are often distant

This will give you an idea of what is seen at both recently

You need to be aware that a lot of the reports will be fly-throughs as birds follow the Trent-Tame Valley. However Grasshopper Warbler and Whinchat today.
 
You also have Croxall Lakes which is less than 10 minutes away, it's only a few minutes off the A38 and has a couple of hides but I haven't been for a couple of years and don't see it getting reported much
