Thought i would start a thread on the arrival of any Waxwings in the County, sightings from this winter.

9 Laindon last week
1 Brentwood Last week
c30 at Bradwell the last couple of days

Please add as you hear news of any Essex Sightings,or neighbouring areas.

I see there was a single report of one waxwing at langdon hills in the last day or so...
I assume people have been checking pitsea tescos??

Heard today of a couple at Holland Haven yesterday. At Frinton I've had 5 south on 12th and 2 in off the sea on 6th (when a single briefly at Holland Haven). Landguard also reported a group of 12 watched flying south into Essex this morning.

And didn't I see a report of some at Abbotts Hall? Getting closer to Maldon...

BTW I have seen them all along the southern link road from Morrisons to the football club and surrounding areas - West Maldon Community Centre is also a good spot (signposted off the link road I believe) so check all along there if I don't get there first!

Also keeping an eye on "waxwing tree" on the Springwood estate in Braintree where I found one myself the winter before last, much to the delight of some of my work colleagues!!!

None at Tesco Pitsea, Aldi car park & Church on the hill (St Michael's/Orange tower)
Spoke to a local who lives by the church and he had not seen any this year.

But i will keep a look out every few days

Oaken Grange Drive in Prittlewell, between Southend and Rochford, is full to the brim with berries and has had sizeable flocks of Waxwings in past invasion years. Will be keeping an eye on it.....
