Hi,
This post is still tentative, but if everything goes right, I am in Hokkaido for 4-5 days birding. I would rent a car and visit some of the obvious places. Blakiston's Fish-owl is highest on the list, and all other Hokkaido specialties. Let me know if you would like to share the ride + birding in order to keep the cost down a little.
