I'm assuming Pipistrelle (whether Common or soprano) Anyone able to confirm or offer a suggestion. Sorry the photos aren't great. Today in south wales.

The sky looks quite bright, how long after sunset is this? Pips should emerge no earlier than 20 minutes after sunset, soprano even later.

I think Pips in daylight are extremely unlikely. The only European bats regularly seen during the day are Noctules. But anything can happen and I can't really help with ID from the photos though.

Yeah I’ve had noctules in the day before but I’ve had disturbed pips too. It seemed too small for noctule but yeah the photos aren’t great

That's not true. I watched a pipistrelle species around midday in the middle of February at Kew Gardens. Though not common I have several times watched them during the day usually in the cooler months of the year.

Early in the year bats of several species will fly in daylight in a warm spell, see John's Mammals 2023 for Common Pipistrelle photos.

I see 'Pips' here all the time and this one looks to be too big?

They've just reappeared here a couple of weeks ago btw, not sure if they hibernate or migrate?
