Distribution

Eastern Africa: found in Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania.

Taxonomy

There are 2 subspecies:

• P. r. pallidus:

• Dry thornbush of eastern Ethiopia and Somalia

• P. r. rufiventris:

• Central Ethiopia to northern Tanzania

Habitat

Dry country, bush and woodland, fruit bushes.

Behaviour

Diet

Diet includes the acacia fruit.

Breeding

The average clutch size is three to four eggs. The eggs take an average of 26 days to incubate, hatching a day or two apart.
