Patching Hurstpierpoint (1 Viewer)

Another pretty Birdless walk around the village today, very windy, found a flock of Fieldfare an some Redwing both of which have been thin on the ground around here this year! few Snowdrops as well spring rolling in! Short Blog post at the link
 
Well after a cracking day around Eastbourne yesterday, see post in "Your Birding Day" forum, it was back to the patch today, highlight was a Bullfinch and a pair of Long-tailed Tits were nice as well. Great Tits singing a lot and Buzzards interacting a sign of spring may be on the way as well!

A walk around Hurst Meadows today with a small group of the Volunteers who manage the area, very interesting though also a bit quiet with nice views of Skylark and Green Woodpecker being the highlight! Some pics and a report on the Blog at the link below
 
Walk to the south of the village today, after yesterday's exploits up Wolstonbury, a bit quiet, nice pair of Mistle Thrush, a showy Chiffchaff and a Yellowhammer the bird highlights a Brimstone that actually landed was also excellent, a few pics and a short report on the blog at the link below. Been very green with my birding this weekend only driven about 3 miles!!
 
Glorious day on the Patch local to me, lots of Whitethroats, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs and Yellowhammers and my first Swallows of the year!

Nice walk and a short Raptor Watch, to the fields at the end of Bullfinch Lane, some nice birds seen, Yellowhammer, Mistle Thrush, Red Kite, Swallows and Skylarks the best of it, not the raptorfest I was hoping for but not a bad couple of hours in the sunshine on a breezy afternoon.

Well after Shetland, still sorting pics more posts coming soon, Chasing rare Falcons, have neglected the Patch lately, headed over this morning, Yellowhammer, Bullfinch and Kestrel about the best of it. Full report and pics on the blog at the link, quite pleased with the Yellowhammers!

Had a nice afternoon "Raptorwatch" on the back of a Birdguides report of a White-tailed eagle in the area, no sign obviously, not many Raptors either, except a very showy Kestrel, but great views of the local Yellowhammers made up for that, very pleasant afternoon in the countryside on a sunny, but with a nice breeze, day! longer report and and more pics on the Blog at the link

Walk on the London Road patch this morning, quite a few fledglings about noticeably, Great and Blue Tits and Nuthatches, which as usual were quite loud!! Birds were hard to spot, GSW and Green Woodpeckers seen and heard but couldn't get pics, a Red Kite high in the sky and a Kestrel and Yellowhammer neither of which showed as well as yesterdays birds!!

Walk around Woods Mill Nature Reserve, which is about 5 miles down the road, very quiet, few Chiffchaffs couple of Whitethroats and apart from the Meadow Browns not much on the insect front, did see a couple of Fritillaries but they never stopped moving to get apicture so not 100% sure what sort!! A walk around the Albourne Patch this morning, managed to get there at 5.30 Am, mindful of the heat. Quite slow with good bits the best way to describe it, Swallows, Green Woodpeckers and a nice Yellowhammer the best of it! Fuller report on the blog at the link with a lot more pictures!

Another productive walk around the Albourne Patch today, bit of an Autumnal feel to proceedings, with several Tit flocks + warblers encountered and a sizable flock of Swifts presumably feeding up pre-departure the local Yellowhammers showed ok as did a large charm of Goldfinches would say around 60 birds but could have been more!!!

First time on the patch in a while, Spotted Flycatcher and Whinchat the best of the birds, some deer and a fox were also seen.

Nice invasion of Long-tailed Tits into the garden yesterday afternoon, quite a large flock mixed in were Chiffchaffs, Blue Tits and a very bright Willow Warbler. A very exciting 10 minutes or so,birds everywhere!

Went to the Chattri today which is a couple of miles from Hurst, bit quiet, Spot Fly ,hobby and Buzzards the best of it ,pics and report on the blog at the link

Hit the patch again today, very gloomy and quiet, few Yellowhammers, couple of Woodpeckers and some Roe Deer the best of it! Short report and some poor pics on the blog at the link!
 
First Patch visit for a few weeks, very quiet, though quite a few Song Thrushes were nice, Little Egret, Redwing and a few Woodpeckers best of the rest, fuller report with plenty of pics on the blog at the link
