I'm going on a family holiday to Cyprus and hoping to get in a couple of days birding but being new to this hobby my ID skills are not brilliant and I would like to find a company or person that can offer day trips on the island (Don't think the wife will be up for a birding holiday yet) anyone any ideas. I've tried the Internet but had no joy.

Hi,

Which area of Cyprus are you staying in? Me and my boyfriend stayed in Paphos and found lots of Jeep Safaris to areas such as the Akamas and the Troodos Mountains. Although these aren't aimed at birdwatchers, you may still see some of the Cyprus specialities.

We found one tour company that offered specific birdwatching trips, although we didn't get round to using them and therefore don't know how good they are. Unfortunatley, I can't remember the companies name, although I know their shop was opposite the Marks and Spencers in Paphos!!

Here's a couple of links you may also find useful:
Events held by Birdlife Cyprus - http://www.birdlifecyprus.org/events1.htm
Website I found which may be of use - http://www.freewebs.com/cyprusbirding/cyprustours.htm

Hope these are of use and not too late!
