Your first bird for 2011 (1 Viewer)

My first birds of the year were 4 Chiffchaffs, would have been happy with one on January 1st but these four fed together picking around the pond, and hopping on plant pots and the lawn. The fact I managed to these before Herring Gull, considering the number of the latter around here, speaks volumes about my hangover (The Chiffies were about a meter outside my patio doors so may as well have waved).

The fact that mine came on the 3rd speaks volumes for mine....

Lol, I didn't actually sleep til 03:00 on January 3rd so I'm not sure whether it was a hangover or mid-session lull! Only noticed the Chiffies because they were conveniently feeding behind where I'd put my B :) down ;)

Rather wish I'd been more productive with my days off and nipped down the road to Shoreham for Scaup, Velvet Scoter, RT Diver etc :cat:

Still, I've never had a group of four Chiffchaffs in a garden before in mid-winter lol. Got an awful pic of 2 of them sandwiched between various embarrasing drunken photos o:D

Barnacle Goose

On Saturday I went to Draycoye and saw four barnies but thought, "Nah, can't be, not around here." Then I met a guy who asked me is the barnies were still up by the visitor centre ... opps.
