This morning, a dead Manx Shearwater was lying in the gutter near the post-box, a lost juv that's crash landed in the recent wet and unsettled weather at night no doubt.

Apart from flocks of pesky House Sparrows, the main interest in our yards at present is the number of migrating Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.

Did you have any sightings of the Turtle Doves at all this year? Sadly, our local ones didn't make it back:-C

That is a problem with hummers, Mark. I spent two hours trying yesterday and didn't end up with many decent shots.

Plenty of Coal Tits in the garden today.
Two Tawny Owls calling from very close to the garden. One perched in next doors Oak, the other called and flew off. The perched Owl followed shortly after.

Interesting how some species in one country resemble a different species in another country. This is our Carolina Chickadee.
